Overview

A 220 mm round cast-iron hot plate rated 2000 W at 400 V, with an 8 mm spill ring and four screw clamp terminals. E.G.O. part number 12.22453.025 — the ten-digit number stamped on the back of the plate. It is also supplied under 12.22453.021. This version is supplied without a thermal protector.

Check the voltage before you order

12.22453.199 (230 V) and 12.22453.018 (440 V) are the same plate on other supplies. Plates of the same diameter and wattage are built in 230 V, 400 V and 440 V and are indistinguishable by eye once the marking has burnt off. Read the voltage from the appliance rating plate, or the E.G.O. number from the back of the plate you removed. Fitting the wrong voltage destroys the plate.

Finding your E.G.O. number

E.G.O. manufactures the cast-iron plates fitted to most European commercial ranges, whatever badge is on the appliance. The ten-digit number on the back of the plate is the only reference that identifies it without ambiguity. The prefix gives the shape and size:

When a hot plate needs replacing

• The plate stays cold, or heats unevenly, after the energy regulator and switch test good.
• An open circuit or an out-of-tolerance resistance reading across the terminals.
• A cracked, dished or warped cast surface that stops pans sitting flat.
• Corrosion or burn marks around the terminal block under the plate.

Installation

Isolate the appliance at the mains before removing the top panel. Photograph the wiring before disconnecting it, transfer the leads one at a time, and torque the terminals to the manufacturer figure. Confirm earth continuity before returning the unit to service. Installation should be carried out by a qualified technician.
